HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a head-on collision between two pickup trucks just outside of Hawkinsville in Pulaski County.
According to Pulaski County Coroner Charles Young, 82-year-old Walter Payton Dorminy was hit by a 2006 Ford Super Duty truck.
The accident happened Sunday about 2 PM on Georgia Highway 26 near Lakeview Drive.
Dorminy was in a 1992 Ford F-150 when he was killed while 18-year-old Johnathan Blake Simmons, the driver of the 2006 Ford was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital. His injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
Georgia State Patrol officers from Perry along with the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) were handling the accident investigation. Pulaski County Sheriff deputies were redirecting Highway 26 traffic from both directions for several hours to allow the GSP to investigate.
