'Rich Mullins' Filming Wraps Up in Warner Robins

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - After a few days of filming in Middle Georgia, the 'Rich Mullins' movie crew is back on the road.

Crews worked out of My Father's Place on Moody Road Thursday. They shot scenes for the upcoming film based on the late Christian musician Rich Mullins. Mullins is best known for his single "Awesome God" and was killed in a car accident.

The Color Green film company used the dining area in My Father's Place to create an intimate scene between Mullins and his pastor. Mullins' brother David Mullins is the executive producer and says filming has been like a "long trip" down memory lane.

"Some really good things and some really hard things too, yea, absolutely. And you're always concerned about how you're portraying people," Mullins said.

A spokesperson for the movie would not release any names but did say famous faces from 'In the Heat of the Night', 'A Few Good Men' and 'Heroes' make a few guest appearances. As far as rumors that Julia Roberts brother Eric Roberts is in the film, it was said that he is 'working with them' but is not starring in this project.

While in the area, crews also filmed at Mercer University, Beaver Glen subdivision and an abandoned church on Highway 96.

David says he's enjoyed the area and the people but it was Georgia's film incentives that really caught their attention.

"I think some of the incentives that Georgia has for film making and we were able to find locations here that look similar to different places around the country within a block of each other. The people have been wonderful and it's just a beautiful area," Mullins said.

The film is expected to be released in the spring of 2013.
