BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A family owned business in Byron is getting ready to expand, and bring new jobs to middle Georgia.
"A lot of people don't see what we manufacture. It's behind the scenes."
Southern Perfection Fabrication is no stranger to middle Georgia. The company is in its third generation of employing local workers. The metal cutting and welding business, has been good to Gordon Hale and his crew of 70. The company started with manufacturing metal automotive parts, and creating pieces for industrial plants. Hale then got into manufacturing plastics.
"We run three shifts now in plastic, 24/7," Hale explains. "With the orders we have on the books, we don't see that slowing down anytime soon."
When the plastic comes into the building, it looks like millions of tiny white balls. They are then put into a mold, given some color, melted, and come out looking like bread trays. That's the business allowing Hale to expand, and even build a new facility.
The plot of ground for the new building is just a lot of trees, grass, and uneven land. But in a couple of months, it's going to have an 80 by 200 foot building, and provide jobs for up to 10 people.
"That's where our big expansion is going to be, is in the plastic...plastic baskets, plastic trays. And our business is just exploding."
