WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - This morning, a bug exterminator found Kit Colburn, a 10-year-old Warner Robins boy who has been missing for two days, alive and well.
The boy was found behind several bushes at a home less than a mile away from his school he ran away from two days ago.
"My assistant Jasper and I came around the side of the house and we normally spray around the foundation of the home, and when we came behind the bushes here to spray, we noticed something back there," said the owner of Bibb Exterminating Company, Dan McCown. "First we thought it was a dog or something and then this little boy stood up, and we immediately recognized who he was."
McCown took Kit inside the home, where he and the home's housekeeper gave the boy something to drink, and called 911.
"We had about 20 officers here in about one minute," said McCown.
McCown said the boy didn't speak much, but that he was visibly shaken.
"'My dad is gonna beat me' is the only thing he said to me. And I was concerned about that and I said, 'No, you're going to be OK. Your dad's going to be happy to see you. You know we're just all happy you're OK. Everything's going to be fine now.' And I was just trying to reassure him; I mean, he's an innocent 10-year-old little boy, so we wanted to make sure that he felt OK before all the police came and started taking him away and scared him to death."
Kit's finding brings a happy ending to a story that could have ended much differently.
McCown says he's glad he sprayed this house today.
"Just blind luck. You know, I guess just God's Will that he was found safe and sound."
