Proposals are due Friday for cities wanting to house the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. And the city of Macon will turn in its plan.
Macon could compete with five other sites. Cities like Athens, Albany, Dahlonega, Dunwoody and Woodstock also plan to submit proposals on Friday.
In Macon, Save the Halls Inc. and NewTown Macon say they want to keep the attraction in downtown. And they have support, financial backing and a strong business plan for the hall.
There's still an effort to keep the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon too. That proposal is due on December 31st.
Athens is the only city that could bid against Macon. Once the Music Hall proposal is submitted, the same groups will focus their efforts on the Sports Hall of Fame.
