DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Local leaders are working to keep the federal courthouse in Dublin from closing.
Monday morning, leaders from Laurens, Dodge, Johnson, Montgomery, Telfair, Treutlen, and Wheeler Counties are expected to sign a joint resolution in support of the keeping the federal courthouse open.
The J. Roy Rowland Federal Courthouse in Dublin was one of 60 across the country named in a review that could close in a cost savings measure. It ranked 9th on the list. Courthouses listed were chosen based on cost, usage, and location.
Fewer than ten people work at the building.
Four other federal courthouses in Georgia were also on the list: Athens, Waycross, Statesboro, and Valdosta.
