A home grown, middle Georgia bookstore is spreading their stories nationwide.
Owner of 'Gottwals Books', Shane Gottwals says they've been researching the idea of expansion. Now, they're taking on the big task of franchising.
"When the economy tanked, we saw the biggest explosion of growth," says Gottwals.
The bookstore's concept is trading and selling gently used books for a discounted price. Gottwals says there's something special about getting lost in a book, and no e-reader can take the place of that feeling.
"You see these displays in the stores of these hand held devices... you don't get to run your fingers over all the books. You don't get to flip em over, read the back, you know feel em, touch em. It's just a much different environment," says Gottwals.
Gottwals believes bookstores are a great representation of a community caring about literacy. He's proud to be in middle Georgia where reading is welcomed and encouraged.
On April 19th, Gotwals Books in Warner Robins will celebrate their 5 year anniversary.
