MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The spirits of Macon are rising from the ground and coming alive to celebrate the cherry blossoms.
The Historic Riverside Cemetery Conservancy is bringing the spirit stroll back with the spring festival.
Director of the Conservancy says, they decided to have an encore event of the cemetery walk that became a hit back in October. Visitors will go on a one-hour trip back in time to visit Macon's ancestors from the Civil War and Emancipation Era.
"History comes to life in front of them. They feel more connected to the past and more connected to the city of Macon from finding out, learning this history in such a personal way," says Suzanne Doonan, Director of Conservancy.
The tours will run at 5:30 every evening during the Cherry Blossom Festival starting Friday, March 16th through Sunday, March 25th.
Tours begin at the Cemetery Gatehouse, 1301 Riverside Drive. Tickets are $10 per person, and children under 10 are free.
