Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority Unveils New Additions to Its Fleet of Buses

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Today the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority unveils new additions to its fleet of buses. Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority has 5 brand new buses, 3 of the buses were added last week to the fleet. The Elderado bus is 35 feet long and seats up to 35 people. and if the seats are full, it has a standing capacity of 35 people.
The buses get an estimated 4 miles per gallon and have a life expectancy of 12 years. General Manager of MTA Rick Jones says the Elderado buses cost about 375,000 and the smaller buses cost about 106,000.
"It's the state of the art; It has all the bells and whistles. It's got zero emissions and it's friendly to the environment and it is capable of caring people in a very comfortable safe manor", said Rick Jones, General Manager of MTA.
The Macon-Bibb transit Authority gave free rides around the block today in the new buses.
