MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A New York author encourages young professionals in middle Georgia to take a creative approach to their job search.
Ari Kaplan's book, "Reinventing Professional Service", encourages people to start with connections when it comes to careers. He says using technology is the first step toward forming relationships with prospective employers. "What we tend to do is think, ugh I didn't see a job listing and so I'm not going to get a job, as opposed to who can I meet with, who can I connect with that's doing what I'm doing that's related to an industry that I want to be in," says Kaplan.
Kaplan suggests young professionals seek to become "hustlers" by creating opportunity through their actions. He says Linked-In is a great way to begin that search. Kaplan will be speaking more about his ideas for young professionals at Mercer Law School tomorrow afternoon.
