A local Macon DJ shaved his famous goatee off for $1500, and it all went to the American Diabetes Association.
Kevin Nichols says his facial hair has been part of his signature look for 10 years. No one in Macon has ever seen him DJ a party without it.
He pledged to shave it off if he could raise $1500 for diabetes research by January 31st. Nichols' girlfriend and mother both have the disease, so he wanted to do something that would inspire people to support this cause.
"This is something that people know that I love and that's very, very important to me and to have and so I was able to get a lot of people from all over the country, DJ friends, I had one friend Keith Johnson from Indiana that took us to the top," says Kevin Nichols.
It was his son Hayden who helped him surpass his goal.
"I donated $5, I'm down to $2 on my credit card, but I thought it was really worth it," says Hayden Nichols.
So far, Nichols has raised $1555. Click here to make a contribution to Kevin's cause.
