One local dentist office is doing its part to promote healthy smiles. Today is "Healthy Smile, Happy Child Day." Dr. Fabian Byer from Small Smiles Dental Center says an estimated one in five children go without dental care each year.
The Macon office offered free dental screenings to Middle Georgia kids today.
“Make sure that your kids are brushing twice a day, and flossing especially if they're under the age of nine with help from mom and dad. Just make sure they're getting the areas really really good,” said Rebecca Jackson, Hygienist at Small Smiles Dental Center.
Hygienists also gave kids proper toothbrush instruction. Jackson says it's important to limit sweets and starch to avoid cavities.
