Congressman Austin Scott spoke with 41NBC following Thursday's announcement surrounding cuts coming to the Defense Department. As the only Georgia Republican on the Armed Services Committee, representing what he calls a base on the "good list," Congressman Austin Scott says he's positioned to fight President Obama on this issue.
"I'm gonna be there at every committee meeting. We're gonna fight this decision by the President to have another round of BRAC, and we'll be working with the whole Robins community to make sure that what we stop for BRAC, and two that we get more missions for Robins," said Georgia Rep. Austin Scott, District 8.
He credits Robins leadership for resolving issues surrounding the base, like OSHA. Scott believes today's news stems from the Senate's inability to adopt a budget. He says Middle Georgia should be concerned, but assures that he's ready to work hard and fight for Robins Air Force Base.
