UGA Gets $2.1 Million Grant to Study HIV in Black Men
ATHENS - The University of Georgia has received a $2.1
million federal grant to study how to decrease the rate of HIV and
other sexually transmitted diseases among black men in rural areas.
The grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse will allow
UGA researchers to follow 500 young black men living across the
state for up to five years. They will learn about the factors that
affect the participants' decisions about sex and romantic
relationships.
The aim is to create educational programs for such groups.
