MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The fight for Bibb County Board of Education District Four is over.

Republican candidate Lester Miller wins the seat with more than 65 hundred votes. He opponent democrat Dominque Johnson only had 45 hundred votes.

Miller says it has been an exhausting campaign season but all the hard work has been worth it and he can't wait to join the board in Januiary.

"I would bring some stability to this board. We have three new members that are coming on to the board and I think I can bring a lot," Miller said. "Safety and discipline is my number one priority to start with and I want to take a real good look at that budget and hopefully work with the other members to get back on track."

Miller will replace Susan Middleton, the current district four member of the BOE.

Romney Wins Georgia, Picks Up 16 Electoral Votes

Written by Associated Press (71) on . Posted in Elections

ATLANTA (AP) - Republican Mitt Romney has won Georgia, a state dominated by the GOP. He picks up its 16 electoral votes.

Early returns and exit polling show Romney defeating President Barack Obama in Georgia. Obama also failed to carry the state in 2008.

Romney had been a favorite to win in the state where Republicans hold every statewide office and have wide majorities in the Legislature.

The former Massachusetts governor placed second in Georgia's presidential primary in March, behind former Georgia Congressman and House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Gingrich later dropped out of the race.

Georgia was never considered a key state in the presidential contest. Both Romney and Obama raised money in Georgia, but neither candidate mounted a major campaign in the state.
