C. Jack Ellis Defeated In Race for Macon Mayor

The celebration started before the last numbers rolled in, but tonight, there was no victory lap for C. Jack Ellis. As he walked through the door to his campaign headquarters, supporters shouted "Jack is back". At that point, 29 precincts were reporting and Ellis was in the lead by one percent. As he hugged supporters and began to celebrate a victory, the numbers rose in favor of Mayor Robert Reichert. The loss for Ellis came down to just over 500 votes.

"I want to thank God for giving me so many people, for providing so many people to bring so many good people in my life during this campaign, and thank all of them for how hard they worked and how dedicated they were."

Ellis also congratulated Mayor Robert Reichert for winning the tight race. He will rest for a few days and then head back to work. As for his future plans in politics, Ellis says don't rule him out.
