MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - It is no longer a one-man race for the District 9 commission seat.
Community activist Al Tillman is throwing his name in the race. Tillman says his focus is on the community and he's always wanted to be a public servant.
He believes the new leaders need to put aside partisan politics and work together to make the best Macon-Bibb County.
"In order for us to move our community forward we have to come together and show people we're willing to work together first as a commission and then we can begin to solve these issues as far as jobs and crime," Tillman said.
Tillman is up against current Macon City Council President James Timley.
