MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Macon City councilman Louis Tompkins says it's time for the city and Bibb County to move forward to make the new form of government work, and he wants to be a part of it.
In front of a group of supporters at city hall, Tompkins said his committment to service is what motivated his decision to run for the District 5 seat.
"I am seeking this position because I believe that there is a distinct difference in living in a city and being a part of it. I am, have always been, and always will be an integral part of this community," said Tompkins.
Tompkins began his run on city coucil in when Miriam Paris resigned to run for state senator in 2011. He was re-elected for the same post in July 2012.
He currently serves on the Public Safety, Rules, and Public Properties committees for the city.
