MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Vivian Childs wears her political party's symbol on her sleeve, but she says it's what's in her heart that makes her feel honored to be representing middle Georgia at the 2012 Republican National Convention.
"We are all Americans, and no matter what decision we are making, we're making it for America, and I think we forget that too often," says Childs.
Childs is one of the three chosen delegates to represent Georgia's 8th Congressional District at the RNC in Tampa next week.
"I know what Georgia's thinking," says Childs.
Now she's ready to hear how Republicans across the country are getting ready to campaign for a GOP win in November, and decide who will lead them to victory.
"Throughout the process there are some of us who are bound to candidates at least through the first round of balloting," says Childs.
Childs and fellow 8th District delegate Jason Downey, are confident Mitt Romney will officially represent the GOP on the ballot
"I think we're going to want to know what kind of defense, uh, support is the Republican Party going to have, is Mitt Romney going to have?" says Downey.
He's looking forward to hearing about this issue, and others from the slate of panelists including Condoleezza Rice, and others like the Governor of New Jersey.
"You just never know what Governor Christie's going to say," says Downey
More importantly to Childs and Downey then talking politics, is passing on their passion to young voters in middle Georgia.
"I just hope to bring back the opportunity for them to want to get involved," says Childs.
"I'm a Republican yes, I vote conservatively, but I just hope young voters will see that if they get involved, their voice will be heard," says Downey.
Middle Georgia has five delegates heading to tampa from the 2nd, 8th, and 10th Congressional Districts. Five At-Large state delegates will also be representing the middle Georgia region.
