MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A candidate for Georgia State House District 142 has picked up several key endorsements.
Former Macon mayor Jack Ellis, Bibb County Board of Education member Tom Hudson, Macon City Councilman Lonnie Miley, and Kathy Nelson and Mike Gardner of the Central Georgia Federation of Trades and Labor Council all joined Gerald Harvey at his headquarters at 690 Poplar Street Thursday afternoon for the endorsement announcement.
Harvey tells 41NBC picking up the endorsements is a huge momentum boost for his campaign.
"Any time you have a former mayor, you got members of the school board, we have members of city council, and we have labor here," says Harvey. "It's just a tremendous endorsement and I know it will go a long way in helping me win this seat."
Harvey will challenge incumbent Rep. Nikki Randall for the seat in the primary election on July 31st.
