Desegregation Chronicle Given to Ga. College
A collection of letters, photos and other documents from the desegregation of a suburban Atlanta Lockheed aircraft plant in the 1950s and 1960s has been donated to Kennesaw State University.
The Gordon, Kruse, Wentzel Collection comes from Hugh Gordon, a human resources executive from 1959 to 1988 at the Lockheed-Georgia Co. plant in Marietta.
The collection chronicles efforts by the plant to integrate its work force as early as the 1950s by hiring and training 1,200 black workers. It includes manuals, reports, speeches, news clippings and recordings of interviews.
The collection is open to the public by appointment.
