Woman Hit With Pothole Rock in Critical Condition
Authorities say a South Carolina woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a rock that flew through her windshield when a pickup truck hit a pothole along Interstate 20 near the Alabama-Georgia line.
Alabama State Troopers said in a news release that 33-year-old Jo Maureen Fisher was a passenger in a car driven by her husband Monday afternoon. The release said she was flown to UAB Hospital where she died.
However, UAB spokesman Troy Goodman said Fisher was in the hospital late Monday night, which Trooper Chad Joiner confirmed.
Troopers said 35-year-old John Fisher was driving east in Cleburne County, four miles west of the state line.
Authorities say that's when a pickup truck traveling in front of the Goose Creek, S.C., couple hit the pothole, knocking the rock through Fisher's car.
