Macon's 'Shalom Zone' concept is drawing national attention. Friday, the city showcased its initiative to the National Committee of the Communities of Shalom. The Committee actually came up with the idea of bringing members of a community together to curb crime and increase unity and peace among neighbors. Macon has created six of those zones throughout the city. The committee commended Macon for its efforts. Committee members also toured Macon's Shalom zones. The zones are in the Village Green, Lynnmore Estates, Bellvue, Pleasant Hill, East Macon, and Beall's Hill neighborhoods.
