Hundreds Expected at Houston Co. Teacher Job Fair
This weekend, hundreds of prospective teachers will make their way to Warner Robins High School with resumes in hand. The Houston County school system said it is expecting more than 750 job seekers to make their way to the fair. All 38 of the county's schools are expected to be at the job fair.
School officials say Georgia's unemployment rate, the economy, and Houston County's reputation as a strong school system are all factors for the high turnout.
With the opening of Veterans High School in the county and new zoning lines, many teachers are moving schools, leaving openings within all grade levels and all subjects. But the new school doesn't mean more openings for the county. Even with Veterans High School, the district will fill fewer teaching positions compared to other years.
The job fair is from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, at Warner Robins High School. You must have a resume to enter the job fair. School officials say make sure you are well-dressed and bring plenty of resume copies, because they will do interviews on the spot.
