Mercer Fraternity Suspended for Hazing
A Mercer University Fraternity has been kicked off campus for hazing.
The Alpha Phi Alpha is suspended from Mercer for three years after reports of paddling, sleep deprivation, and dietary restrictions. Students reported the allegations to Mercer Police in November, a week after a student pledging Alpha Phi Alpha, Ronald Quashie, was found dead. Officials have not found any evidence that suggests hazing played a role in the death, but call the speculation "understandable."
The investigation has been turned over to Bibb County's District Attorney Howard Simms, who would not say if any arrests will be made.
