The Carter Center says it will conduct a
conference in Ghana beginning Sunday on the right of access to
information in Africa.

Former President Jimmy Carter's Atlanta-based organization says
it expects about 100 participants at the three-day conference,
representing government, the private sector, the media and other
interests from at least 15 African nations.

The Carter says more than a quarter of the countries in
sub-Saharan Africa are considering legislation involving access to
information.
