Peach County leaders say too many people without health insurance are showing up at the Peach Regional Medical Center in Fort Valley, and it is costing the county money and resources. Now, a healthcare organization wants to step in and help by opening a community health clinic. CEO of Community Health Works, Greg Dent, says a new low-cost, local health clinic would provide Peach County residents a place to receive quality, but inexpensive care without overloading the ER.

Dent's idea of a care clinic has worked before, both in Bibb and Monroe County. He is still researching if the Peach County community wants a clinic.

The group is holding its first community meeting next Thursday night, Jan. 28th. It will be at Fort Valley State University's Pettigrew Center at 6 p.m.
