Monday, local health officials gathered for the first of several follow-up meetings to the Central Georgia Regional Health Summit, held last October.

Community Health Works, a non-profit organization, aims to improve healthcare across Middle Georgia.  Monday's topic of discussion - obesity - and the health problems at the local and community level.

Greg Dent, President/CEO of Community Health Works, tells 41 NBC News, "We're getting Bibb County leaders together to talk about issues concerning obesity, and the disease states that flow from obesity, such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other issues."

The three year long health summit will shed light on several health issues that matter most to the community, and to local heath care systems.
