FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Jonah Munson and his family have owned and operated Jonah's on Johnston for the last five years.
"We always wanted to open a small place and this town really needed some good restaurants; it's a lot of work but we decided we were going to do it," says Munson.
The brick oven bistro and bakery offers a wide variety of eats, but a must-have item on the menu is the artichoke dip and toast points.
Munson says, "The artichoke dip is actually my wife's recipe, it's really good."
Customers like Susan Smith say it's one of her favorite appetizers to order.
"It's creamy, it's really thick, it's good with the little toast that they give it with," says Smith.
The combination of artichoke hearts and the chef's choice of ingredients make it a popular dish.
"There's a small spice to it, it's the best artichoke dip I've ever had," raves customer Mark Beatty.
It's so popular that some order it by the tub.
"People ask if they can buy it in quarts or in gallons," says Munson.
The dip is simple to make. It calls for Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, artichoke hearts, onions, water chestnuts, and roasted red peppers.
"It's really cream-based, with a good lot of other things in there, heated in our brick oven..." according to Munson.
The 4500 lb brick oven is the biggest and hottest item at the restaurant.
"We cook everything in there except for our pastries and desserts, we've got some of the best pizza in Georgia if you ask me," says Munson.
Jonah's on Johnston is located at 26 E Johnston Street in Forsyth.
