MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) - Summertime is upon us, and with the warm weather and kids being out of school, trouble typically starts brewing.
In an effort to keep kids from causing trouble in their neighborhoods, Charles McGhee started up the Vic-ki Foundation. This weekend, law enforcement agencies, lawyers, and several agencies will hold a mock 'trouble causing situation', to teach kids consequences of acting out.
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- The Peachtree Cafe at Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley was once just a single serving line with chicken salad and fruit cups. The chicken salad has remained a signature item since the early 1990's, even with the most recent addition of pecans to the recipe.
Customer Charletta Jackson said, "It has all the right ingredients without giving away any of the secrets, it's just right."
Jackson claims being a Southern girl, she knows a good chicken salad when she tastes one. "It's like how I make it at home, it's just good," she said.
Celery salt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, chopped pecans, and pickle relish are just some of the ingredients that make it such a popular menu item.
An employee at the cafe, Maria Escobedo said she enjoys making it, but likes eating it more.
"I like it so much. The chicken salad is delicious," according to Escobedo.
The bakery has also become a big part of the cafe, producing more than 30,000 loaves of bread per year.
The cafe is located at 50 Lane Road in Fort Valley.
Peachtree Cafe Chicken Salad Recipe Ingredients: 5 lb bag chicken, diced 5 inches 1 bunch fresh chopped celery 1 cup pickle relish 1 1/2 quarts mayonnaise 3/4 cup lemon juice 2 tablespoons celery salt, onion powder, and lemon pepper EACH 3 cups chopped pecans Combine ingredients in mixing bowl, serve chilled
