MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Weaulih Jang, owner of China Gourmet in Macon is very proud of his handmade dumplings.
Jang says, "You can buy machine made dumplings, but they taste different, that's why we like to make them handmade."
Jang was born in Taiwan, moved to China, spent some time in Brazil, Florida, and finally brought his talents to Georgia. He is big on traditions.
"All we do is the traditional way, all the time...before the New Year...we eat dumplings, that's tradition," says Jang.
The dumplings symbolize wealth.
Customer Vickie Kerr says "They have special meaning to Chinese because they're made like ancient gold and silver."
Jang is proud to use fresh ingredients, never frozen. Customers say they can taste the difference.
"It's more authentic, you know my mother is Thai so it's really close to her food and that's why I love it," says Kaye Crook.
