Missing Utah Mom
Family and friends held a prayer service Saturday for the missing West Valley, Utah, woman.
Friends are passing out thousands of flyers hoping a tip will lead to clues and praying for Susan's return. Susan's husband Josh didn't want to talk to reporters after a prayer service Saturday, but his brother-in-law Kirk Graves did. With Josh standing next to him, Graves thanked the West Valley Police Department, family, friends and complete strangers for their help.
"We continue to hope she will be returned to us safely," said Graves.
Graves also said the speculation about Josh is disappointing. "I think it's pointless. I think maybe worse than pointless. I think it's destructive and damaging to what's going on,"Graves said.
Some of that speculation comes from Josh's story. Powell said he took his two and four-year-old sons camping in the freezing cold of the West Desert on the night Susan disappeared from their West Valley home.
Graves understands how some could look at that story. But he says Josh is just as hurt about his wife's disappearance as anyone.
Graves said, "I can tell you the pain he feels is real. I could feel it."
The family says they're doing their best to keep the Powell's two children occupied and to shelter them from the situation.
Meanwhile, Susan's family and friends are distributing flyers throughout the Salt Lake Valley with hopes someone has seen something. Susan's friend Tami Allen said she hopes to, "Get everyone to see her face, and hopefully someone recognizes her. And we don't know where to search, so flyers are the best way."
More than 100 people showed up at a prayer service Saturday. Susan's friends are hoping it's enough love to bring her home.
"She's an awesome lady, and it's so sad. And we don't know who would have done it," said Allen.
Susan's brother-in-law Kirk Graves said, "We love and miss Susan. We're still hoping and praying she will return to us.
