Community leader across Middle Georgia toured Robins Air Force Base Wednesday to see first-hand the role it plays in defending our nation.

Officials saw the inner workings of C-130 and F-15 repairs, and learned about a new initiative between base management and union representatives, called Fostering Leadership and People.

The program focuses on rewarding employees for their hard work with new incentives, such as gift cards and other small kinds of rewards.

"In order to have a healthy organization and one that's highly productive, you've got to start with the basics," said Major General Polly Peyer.  "I really firmly believe that part of those basics is the communication and the partnership we have between management and the union which really influences the rest of the workforce out here."

Mayor-elect Chuck Shaheen toured the facility and spoke about the importance of having a strong relationship between the base and city of Warner Robins.
