Amanda Castro moved to the 'Song and the Soul of the South' in July 2012 when she joined the 41NBC news team. She is originally from Florida, but is excited to call Middle Georgia home!
Amanda began at 41NBC as a reporter and covered many important stories to the community, including the controversial Macon police officer involved shooting, updates on the Macon-Bibb County government consolidation, and the Pamela Moss murder trial in Jones County. She is the beat reporter for Bibb, Baldwin, and Wilkinson counties.
She joined the Daybreak team in September 2013 as co-anchor of the morning show. She's getting used to the early wake up call, but loves starting off her day with you!
Amanda graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2012 with a degree in broadcast journalism. She worked as a reporter and web producer for FM 96.5 News/Talk WDBO. While there, she covered the high profile Casey Anthony murder trial and the Trayvon Martin shooting death. She also interned at the ABC and CBS affiliates.
Amanda loves hanging out in downtown Macon, trying out new restaurants, and playing trivia at Mellow Mushroom every Tuesday night. She is also a big bookworm (she's a huge Harry Potter fan!) When she's not working, you'll most likely find her playing with her cat Lily or laying out by the pool if it is warm enough.
Amanda loves to tell stories, especially ones that are important to you and impact the community. Feel free to contact her for any story ideas. She wants to hear from you!
