Other information
Amanda Castro joined the 41 NBC News team in July 2012. She is a native Floridian and is excited to call Middle Georgia her new home.
Amanda graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando with a degree in broadcast journalism. Since she joined the morning announcement team at her elementary school, Amanda knew she wanted to work in the news industry.
While in Orlando, Amanda worked as a reporter and web producer for FM 96.5 News/Talk WDBO. She covered many stories affecting the Central Florida community including the high profile Casey Anthony trial.
Although she loved radio, Amanda wanted to branch out into television and interned at the ABC and CBS affiliates in Orlando. In addition to internship experience, Amanda also anchored, reported and produced for UCF's weekly newscast, Knightly News.
In her free time, Amanda loves to read (she's a huge Harry Potter fan), go shopping and spend time with her friends and family.
Amanda is passionate about finding stories important to the community. Feel free to contact to her for any story ideas. She would love to hear from you!
