Winter Weather Driving Tips

 

Given the possible winter weather affecting Middle Georgia, it's important to take the necessary precautions to stay safe while driving on the roadways.

 

  • If you do not have to go out in hazardous/wintry weather conditions, the best tip is to Stay Home. By venturing out on the roads, you're increasing your chances of encountering icy spots or being stranded in the arctic cold air.

Warmest June Ever Recored on Earth

Last month’s combined global land and ocean surface temperature made it the warmest June on record and the warmest on record averaged for any April-June and January-June periods, according to NOAA.

July 13th Record Rainfall in Macon

On Tuesday, July 13, 2010 a record daily maximum rainfall was set at the airport in Macon. In total, 4.47” of rainfall was measured which shattered the old record of 1.73” of rainfall that was measured back in 1971.

Bibb County Siren Testing

Starting today and lasting through Friday, the Bibb County Emergency Management Agency will be testing the tornado sirens everyday at 11am. The sirens will sound for approximately 1 minute. Keep in mind that this is just a test, so there's no need to be alarmed. The EMA is just making sure the sirens are in proper working order, and fixing any problems there may be.
