Monday on Daybreak we learned about the ‘Give Wildlife a Chance’ tax check off.  Nongame Conservation Section Program Manager, Jim Ozier, with the Department of Natural Resources joined us with the details.

‘The Give Wildlife a Chance’ tax check off is a way for citizens to contribute through their state income tax returns to the Georgia Wildlife Conservation Fund.  Ozier says that fund is used to conserve nongame and endangered species across the state.

This tax check off has netted nearly $6.2 million since it was created in 1989.  Contributions have declined each year since 2003.  Ozier says that Georgian’s need to help reverse that trend, even in tough economic times.

You can contribute by checking off the box on your state income tax forms.  For links and more information visit http://etax.dor.ga.gov or www.georgiawildlife.com  You can call also the DNR office in Forsyth at (478) 994-1438.
