MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- There's a new 'spin' on medical assistance for the working poor. Kevin Barrere who is representing the Leadership Macon Class of 2013 stopped by 41 Today with details on the surgery for people in need program. Spin is the first volunteer surgery program in Georgia. According to Barrere, the goal of the program is to deliver quality surgical services to ensure quality patient experience and clinical outcome.
The program was created for those who qualify as the "working poor" to receive outpatient surgery through community partners at no charge. The working poor include working people whose incomes fall below a given poverty line.
The Leadership Macon Class of 2013's project partners include: The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Macon Volunteer Clinic and the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
